Start With the Right Project Details
The quickest way to get useful feedback is to send the basics of your line, even if the project is still at an early stage. Let us know what products you pack, what pallets you build, how many shifts you run, and whether the issue is labour pressure, line speed, repeat stoppages or product handling. If you have drawings, layout photos or a short video of the existing conveyor line, include them with your enquiry.
We often support sites where the line already works well mechanically, but the packing or palletising section needs a retrofit to improve throughput. That might include a robot added to an existing conveyor, a cobot for lighter loads, new guarding, or control changes so the line starts, stops and indexes properly. The more detail you share up front, the easier it is to plan the next step.
What Our Support Team Checks First
Once we receive your enquiry, we look at the practical details that affect a retrofit in South Africa.Coastal humidity in Durban or Gqeberha can also affect cabinet placement, cable routes and maintenance planning.
Our team then decides whether the job needs a site visit, a remote review, or a combination of both. Typical early checks include:
- Existing conveyor flow and transfer points
- Available space for a robot cell or cobot station
- Operator access and safe walkways
- Current guarding and emergency stops
- Control panel condition and I/O availability
- Product changeover needs and pallet patterns
How We Handle Retrofit Enquiries
ReAutomated supports retrofits for manufacturers that want to improve packing and palletising without rebuilding the whole line. In many cases, the process begins with a line survey in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midvaal or the East Rand, then extends to other provinces where needed. We work with the existing conveyors and surrounding equipment where possible, so the retrofit fits into the plant rather than forcing a full redesign.
From there, we can assist with retrofit design, conveyor integration, controls integration and installation planning. If your site needs a robot to place cartons, bags or trays onto pallets, or a packing station that reduces manual lifting, we will help define the practical scope. We also support spares planning and maintenance arrangements so the line can keep running after commissioning.
Safety Guarding and Risk Assessment Support
Every retrofit needs its own risk assessment because no two sites are the same. A line in a busy Johannesburg factory will have different access points and traffic movement than a facility in Cape Town or Durban, so the guarding solution has to suit the plant layout and the way people work around it. We can support the process by reviewing the layout, identifying hazards, and planning how operators, maintenance staff and forklift drivers will interact with the cell.
Safety guarding design may include fixed panels, interlocked gates, light curtains, warning lights and marked access zones, depending on the application. We also look at emergency stop placement, restart procedures and safe access for cleaning or maintenance. The aim is to make the retrofit practical to run day to day, not just safe on paper.
Commissioning, Training and Handover
When a retrofit moves into installation and commissioning, clear handover support matters. Our team can coordinate site work, check conveyor timing, verify pick and place sequences, and confirm that the controls respond correctly to faults and resets. We also support operator training so the people running the line know how to start it, clear stoppages and understand the basic alarms.
If the line needs a delayed start, interlocked restart, or a small change to the sequence, those details are best resolved during commissioning rather than after production begins.
Where We Support Sites Across South Africa
Our base is in Spartan, Kempton Park, and we support packing and palletising retrofits for manufacturers across South Africa. That includes large industrial areas in Gauteng as well as coastal and inland production sites. We regularly work with enquiries from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, the East Rand and Midvaal.
If your plant is outside those areas, you can still send the enquiry through the contact form. Tell us where the site is, what product is being handled and what improvement you need. We will advise on the best next step, whether that is a survey, a design review or support for an existing retrofit.
